3M™ 1099 High Performance Nitrile Plastic Adhesive dries quickly with an open time of approximately 40 minutes. Its joints in assemblies are proven to be strong, resisting weather conditions as well as damage from water, oil, and fuel. Additionally, it adheres well to plastics and vinyl, providing long-lasting adhesion and good resistance to plasticizer migration.
Ideal for vinyl plastic, it bonds to various substrates – primarily leather and most vinyl films used in awnings, upholstery, and imitation leather – as well as plastics, for a strong and durable bond. However, it may stain thin or light-colored vinyls. Recommended applications: Bonding most vinyls and plastics; Automotive repair, including panel and upholstery installation; Awnings and strips; General industry; Repair and maintenance operations. Streamline the bonding process: With 3M™ High Performance Nitrile Plastic Adhesive 1099, you can quickly meet your bonding application requirements. This fast-drying adhesive forms a durable bond at room temperature, but optionally features a heat-triggered chemical reaction to achieve even higher bonding properties. Additionally, this adhesive can be sprayed with industrial spraying equipment, providing convenience and consistency for large-scale applications. Applying your adhesive: Whether sprayed, brushed, or roller-applied, applying 3M™ adhesive is a simple process. Begin by carefully applying the adhesive to the surface until a uniform layer is formed. Using an overlapping standard, one coat should be sufficient for most surfaces. Effective adhesive coverage is achieved when 80% or more of the surface is covered. Some substrates, including porous materials, may require an additional coat. To add more adhesive, simply wait until the existing adhesive is dry to the touch and then proceed with applying the additional coat.
