Carnauba wax, with a melting point of 86ºC, is the hardest of all natural waxes. It offers high UV and high-temperature resistance. Carnauba is very versatile and known as the “Queen of Waxes.” It is used in a wide variety of applications and products. The best known are polishing and protective waxes for footwear, the automotive industry, and flooring; in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries; it is also an indispensable component in the food industry for the development of water-based waxes or emulsified waxes for fruits (apples, citrus fruits, cucumbers, bananas, and others); in post-harvest treatments to prolong their shelf life and maintain their appearance and freshness, as it reduces transpiration and thus inhibits it to a certain degree, while also aiding in fungal and bacterial preservation and, of course, maintaining a more natural shine of the fruit. Carnauba is widely used in the restoration of furniture and wooden objects. It offers additional protection, high gloss, does not seal the pores, keeping the wood surface breathable. If you are looking for additional protection against water and humid environments, we suggest consulting candelilla wax.
