Rust Remover Dip is a liquid formulation for removing rust. – It inhibits further oxidation by creating a barrier. It is suitable for use on ferrous metals, brass, copper, and bronze.
Rust Remover Dip removes rust from carbon steel and iron products. Ideal for use on garden gates, cars, bicycles, screws, and all metal objects. Can be used to clean copper, bronze, and chrome using steel wool.
Before applying Rust Remover Dip, clean and degrease the surface, remove loose rust with a steel brush, steel wool, or non-woven abrasives. Old, peeling paint that may be hiding rust should be removed with paint stripper. Apply Rust Remover Dip with a brush and let it act (a color change from brown to gray usually occurs), removing the diluted rust with steel wool, a synthetic scouring pad, or a metal brush. If the rust is thick, repeat the process. Small parts can be cleaned by immersion. The phosphoric acid-based solution not only removes rust but also creates a thin protective film. If, due to the steel composition, rust reappears, we suggest cleaning again with Rust Remover Dip, then washing the part with water and neutral soap, rinsing, and drying thoroughly with a hairdryer, and/or neutralizing with a 5% sodium bicarbonate solution, rinsing, and drying thoroughly with a hairdryer. Before painting or varnishing, clean with pure alcohol. Clean the brushes with water.
It can be used to degrease and clean most metal surfaces before coloring with Birchwood & Casey Cold Oxidation, Liberon Iron Paste, or paint.
– Use: Indoors. Drying/Curing time: Minimum 24 hours.
