Laropal A 81 Aldehyde Resin

Laropal A 81 is a new generation of ultra-transparent, yellowing-resistant aldehyde resin with optimal adhesion and reversibility over the years; excellent wettability and pigment dispersion. Choice of restorers and artists for the preparation of high-quality mediums and varnishes. Laropal is soluble in 40% white spirit, pure alcohol, and a wide variety of solvents. As a solvent, we recommend a mixture of 60% Shellsol D40 + 40% Shellsol A. There are many recipes for a “perfect” varnish, composed of 70% aromatic solvents and 30% pure alcohol such as isopropanol or methanol. Increasing the aromatic solvent content will increase working time; increasing the alcohol content will provide a cleaner finish, improving adhesion but decreasing working time. To prepare a perfect varnish to your preference, we recommend testing different options with Shellsol D40, Shellsol A, isopropanol, or methanol, and we also recommend adding butanol as a slow-evaporating alcohol.
